Finished!!!

I am now finished with my game demo! I think my biggest accomplishment was being able to work in Flash and finish my game demo. I didn't think that I would be able to finish it because thought it was going to be really hard, but with the help of my team mates and other classmates we finally finished! I think my biggest struggle with this was doing the actions for my game demo. When i first started working in Flash I had know idea of what to do, or how to do anything, but I now know a lot about Flash. The thing I liked most about this class was working in a team because without working with them I don't think I would be able to do it by myself. The thing I least liked about this class was that it was really hard and there was a lot of work to do. The advice I would give to a new class based on my experience is that you really need to pay attention, and do not think you won't be able to do something. The thing I liked most about presenting my game demo was that everyone on my team helped out on it. I really enjoyed taking this class this year and had a lot of fun with it, (even though it was a lot of work!)

Presentation

Soon we will be finishing our game demo and presenting it. I think by doing a practice presentation it will help us better prepare for the final presentation. Meaning that if we mess up while doing our practice presentation we will know what to do for our final presentation. I do think we will be ready for our game demo presentation because the only thing that we are doing right now is getting all of the actions and buttons working. That is our main concern, but I don't think we will have a problem fixing what needs to be fixed. For the actual presentation I am worried about the buttons not working and then we wouldn't be able to present our whole game demo. If all of the actions and buttons do work, I think our game demo will be really good and interesting.

We are still continuing to work on our game demo. I think we are about to start our biggest struggle, and that would be adding actions to make our game demo work. We are having some problems getting our frames in the correct order, but I think it will be easy to fix. Also, our game demo is working correctly, and I think its because we don't have the correct actions script, and our frames are messed up. I think that we have accomplished our goals for this week, because are goal for each week is to get more scenes added to our game demo. We pretty much have all the scenes we need for our game demo, so by the end of next week I hope that our game demo is working correctly with all the actions, and that our team page has all of the uploaded scenes on it. I do feel like my team members are contributing equally, we all help each other. I feel like our presentation is going to be really good, and I really like our game idea.

Our goals for this week as a team were to finish the intro scene, team introduction, and the primary game scene. Also we wanted to start adding more scenes to our game demo. We finished the first three scenes, but we were having trouble getting the work that we had done to show up on every one's computer. Also, yesterday we added an instructions scene, and I thought that it was really easy to do. I would have liked to have added more scenes, but we want to make sure everything is done correctly. For next week, I hope to accomplish adding more scenes and to make sure everything is working in the correct order. I think that my team and I are working really well together, and I hope our progress continues everyday. I think I could help my team by working harder and getting more accomplished each day. The three major things I would like to accomplish by next Friday are, making sure all my scenes are working correctly, adding more scenes to our game demo, and uploading more scenes to our team page.

Starting to Assemble Game Demo

The past few days we have been working on assembling our game demo. Our team hasn't accomplished very much yet, but we have accomplished some things. The things that we have accomplished are deciding who was going to do what, and also we began to work on our scenes. Something that I have accomplished is getting the team introduction scene set up. I think the easiest part was figuring out what team member was going to do what. Although I have accomplished my scene it was with the help of my team members. We have been helping each other with things, and I think that has made assembling our game demo a lot easier. One thing that I found hard was getting the text we entered to only show up one that particular scene. I feel like all of my team members our helping out equally because we are all helping each other. For the rest of the week I hope to get our introduction and primary game scene done. Also I hope to began adding other scenes to our game demo. I think once we get the whole game demo finished that it is going to be really good!

Flash- Game Demo Skeleton

The past few weeks we have been working in Flash. It has been a new experience, and I think that it is interesting. We have also been working on our game demo skeletons, which has been a little confusing. Some specific things I have learned are using layers, using different scenes, how to add buttons, and adding sound. Although I have not yet added sound to my game demo skeleton, I did watch the tutorial and I don't think that it will be too hard. I thing that I feel confident in, in using Flash is layers. I think that adding layers has been the easiest part, and I know how to use them well. I think the most difficult things is knowing when to add frames and key frames. It is easy to insert them, but if you don't insert one at the specific place it is needed then your movie won't work. Another thing that I find difficult is adding navigation to my buttons. I haven't yet figured out how it works, but I plan to have a classmate help me. I think once I know how to get the buttons to work that I will be able to help other classmates who don't know how to do it. I think once I get my game demo skeleton work, then I will have little confusion on getting our team game demo's to work.

Adding Sound

Yesterday, I learned how to add sound to Flash. I thought it was a little confusing at first, but as I continued to watch the video it got easier. I thought that adding sound was going to be hard, but really you have to just add a sound layer. Some sounds that I might include in my game are Mario saying good job and things like that. I think we should use that sound in our game when the person gets the correct answer. Also, our game is painting your room, so we could have sounds with paint dropping. I think that what ever sounds we end up using in our game will be good sounds and go with our game! Sound is important to games because it gives the game something extra. When I play games I never turn the sound on, but some people like the sounds. I don't really know any games that have great sound because I never turn the sound on, but Mario Brothers have good sounds. In that game they have all different kinds of sounds because there are many things going on.
